The House of Representatives is set to invite former president, Goodluck Jonathan, to explain his alleged role in the breach of due process which dogged the award of OPL 245 licence.

Legit.ng recalls that the House of Representatives had said it was preparing to summon Goodluck Jonathan, to explain his role in the controversial award of OPL 245 oil block licence, which is famously known as the Malabu scandal.

The House ad hoc committee tasked with investigating the alleged malpractices which occurred during the transaction will on Wednesday, June 14, meet to determine the process it will take to invite the former president to come and shed light on his alleged role in the deal, a member speaking under the condition of anonymity told the Nation on Tuesday, June 13.

“The committee is going to discuss the modalities for his invitation just like the chairman of the committee said recently,” the source said.

The anonymous lawmaker said Jonathan was the president and commander in chief when the alleged fraud was committed.

“The committee is going to ask the President to tell us what he knows about the Malabu deal and educate us on how he could claim ignorance of what ministers he appointed were doing on his behalf, particular, when they claimed he gave the approval for such," the source noted.

Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited a suspended member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin.

Dogara is under probe with other principal officers including the deputy speaker, Yusuf Lasun, the minority leader, Leo Ogor and the chief whip, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa.

In a letter signed by the acting head of the Extractive Industry and Fraud section, Michael Wetkas, the EFCC asked Jibrin to appear to shed more light into his allegations.
